Edgar Allan Poe

The Tell-Tale Heart ♥

The Tell-Tale Heart is a story about a man who lives with an old man. The man tells the story of how he planned to kill the old man. He didn't want to kill because he didn't like him, it was because of his eye.

"He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture—a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees—very gradually—I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever."

Every night at midnight for seven days he would go into the room with a lantern and shine a small ray of light into the old man's eye. On the eight day, he does the same thing again, but then he leaped into the room and killed the old man. The old man before dying just gave a short shriek. He dismembers the body and puts it underneath the floor boards. There was no blood to clean because he had caught it all in a tub (Ha! Ha!). Then at around 4:oo A.M. some police officers came because a neighbor had heard a shriek. The man tells them that it was just him in a dream. The officers search the whole house and do not find anything. Then they sit down to talk and moments later the man hears a noise. He hears the old man's heart beating underneath the floor. He becomes more mad as the sound increases. Finally, his conscious gets him and he rips up the floor boards and confesses to the police officers the horrible crime that he had commited.

Today In Math

Today in Math we had to take a test on Chapter 8. We were tested on exponential growth and decay, and also on logarithms. We learned the properties of Logarithms.

PROPERTIES OF LOGARITHMS
Let b, u, and v be positive numbers such that b does not equal 1

Product Property Logb uv = logb u + logb v

Quotient Property Logb u/v = logb u - logb v

Power Property Logb un = nlogb u

We learned how to use these properties to be able to solve different expressions and equations

Today In History

Today in Ms. Sanchez's history class, we had to turn in our research paper and take notes. Our research paper had to be about 3-4 pages and we had to have 4 sources. I barely had 3 pages and only 3 sources. We had a few weeks to do it, but I did mine the night before and the morning it was due. After that we took notes on ♠ The Scientific Revolution ♠ and ♥ The Enlightenment ♥. We learned about Galileo and his invention of the telescope, and how he was sent to jail by the Catholic Church for saying that the Sun was in the center of the universe. Then we took some more notes on the people of the Enlightenment like John Locke, Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Thomas Hobbes who each had their own ideas about religion and government. Then Ms. Sanchez gave us homework and the class was over.

A Word That Defines Me

Innovative- tending to innovate or characterized by innovation.

I believe that this word defines me because I am always thinking, and coming up with new ideas. When I am faced with a situation I am always thinking of a way to make it better than it is. Most things that I see I always think of something that I can do with them. Most of these innovative ideas include making money. When I see an object I think about how I can used it towards my advantage. On my computer I am constantly coming up with what I can do with it to make money. I recently bought a computer in a yard sale for $5 because they told me it didnt work. Then I easily fixed it up and going to sell it for some extra cash. The word innovative to me, means to constantly be able to come up with new ideas or making things better. Hopefully, when I am older I will be able to use my innovative ability to accomplish great things
